The Ancient Alien Question

By Phillip Coppens

My hat is off to anyone that has the courage to question a worldview but Phillip Coppens comes armed with, literally, a mountain of evidence, not to mention good common sense that breaks the “belief barrier” of our Biblical history. There’s either something to this or every ancient culture on the planet was having the same delusions over several millennia. In light of the fact that our worldview is dysfunctional and dangerous isn’t it time we look at the facts laid for us in the 21st Century?

Your Emotional Type: Key to the Therapies That Will Work for You

By Michael A. Jawer and Marc S. Micozzi, MD, PhD

ISBN: 978-1-59477-431-7 (Healing Arts Press, 2011)

This book takes another important step toward dealing with the energies that actually cause most disease in our world. This was excellent validation for me to see what personal experience has shown me through the years—that there are similar emotional types connected with certain types of illness. With very clear and concise language, this book will give all those who read it a running start to find the correct therapy to help heal themselves, thereby saving important and sometimes crucial time.

Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health

By William Davis, MD

ISBN: 978-1-60961-154-5 (Rodale Books, 2011)

This book should persuade us all to eliminate wheat from our diet. It is an unhealthy whole grain! Although the cardiologist author is guilty of a little hyperbole, he makes an excellent case that consumption of wheat is the main cause of obesity and diabetes in the United States, along with other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and many skin disorders. Wheat is the only grain that crosses the blood-brain barrier, which causes appetite stimulation and an addictive response in the brain. The author presents scientific data explaining his thesis and case histories showing disease resolved once wheat consumption is halted. Immediate weight loss occurs when wheat is eliminated from the diet and obesity disappears along with the inflammation it causes. Diabetes and cardiovascular disease are then reversed.

Radical Medicine: Cutting-Edge Natural Therapies That Treat the Root Causes of Disease

By Louisa L. Williams, MS, DC, ND

ISBN: 978-1-59477-411-9 (Healing Arts Press, 2011)

This is an excellent and in-depth exposé of the profound complexity of illness, and at the same time, the subtle and often-overlooked remedies. It is a very important book for both practitioners and patients because it points out in detail what is involved in a person's journey toward wholeness, a journey that is often difficult but always worthwhile. This book is invaluable in my life now and will be for many years to come; I highly recommend it to anyone who is on his or her journey toward health and wholeness.

Invoking the Scribes of Ancient Egypt: The Initiatory Path of Spiritual Journaling

By Normandi Ellis and Gloria Taylor Brown

ISBN: 978-1-59143-128-2 (Bear & Company Books, 2011)

Part of waking up to who we are is waking up to those who woke up before and wrote about it in a very enlightened manner. This book is especially powerful for those of us who love to write and have the hidden content come through beyond the words. Many secrets lie hidden in plain sight simply because we do not have the eyes to see the deeper meaning. This may help open your eyes.

Expand This Moment: Focused Meditations to Quiet Your Mind, Brighten Your Mood & Set Yourself Free

By John Selby

ISBN: 978-1-57731-970-2 (New World Library, 2011)

More than 40 years ago, Alan Watts challenged us to identify the common underlying psychological processes in the world’s meditations; that challenge has finally come to fruition in John Selby’s book. At a time when so many divisive misunderstandings emanate from the world’s religions, it’s refreshing to see that most of their meditations are rooted in the common ground of spiritual consciousness. Selby’s short-form meditation helps take you to the door of the source of information that we are seeking.

The Sacred Network: Megaliths, Cathedrals, Ley Lines, and the Power of Shared Consciousness

By Chris H. Hardy, PhD

ISBN: 978-1-59477-381-5 (Inner Traditions, 2011)

The structures from the Golden Age show clearly that consciousness as energy can be united and amplified through certain shapes built along specific ley lines of energy. Chris Hardy exemplifies what happens when a scientist sees through visionary eyes. It’s a true art to travel beyond the veil and bring back coherent information for the rest of us to learn from and that will help us in our personal search for higher states of consciousness.

The Path of Energy: Awaken Your Personal Power and Expand Your Consciousness

By Dr. Synthia Andrews, ND

ISBN: 978-60163-172-5 (New Page Books, 2011)

It seems that we are hardwired to evolve into higher-frequency realms, but the subtle differences along the way are almost imperceptible without guidance. As we open up to a collective consciousness on a planetary scale, we will need to do our inner work to turn on the switch to those neural networks that are in place waiting to unite and illuminate the human race. Dr. Synthia Andrews is helping to map the way.

Mahamantra Yoga: Chanting to Anchor the Mind and Access the Divine

By Richard Whitehurst

ISBN: 978-1-59477-371-6 (Inner Traditions, 2011)

This is a great little book and CD for anyone wanting to know more about or deepen his or her meditation. What really appealed to me was the way it addresses both the physical and the mental to bring them into balance. The time has come for all of us to take responsibility for our personal evolution, which requires work and coming across the right information taken from experience. I also found the CD invaluable for learning the chants.

Elusive Peace: How Modern Diplomatic Strategies Could Better Resolve World Conflicts

By Douglas E. Noll

ISBN: 978-1-61614-417-3 (Prometheus Books, 2011)

Let’s face it—career politicians and even diplomats know very little about mediation and what little they do know is based on old, dysfunctional, and even dangerous paradigms that have never pointed the way to a durable and sustainable future. This book shows clearly that we need professional mediators armed with the latest information in neuroscience and psychology to build bridges between hostilities that date back millennia. It also shows clearly that if we keep doing things the same way we will keep getting the same results, which I believe is the definition of insanity.

By Nicolya Christi

ISBN: 978-1-59143-129-9 (Inner Traditions, 2011)

As we approach 2012 it’s becoming apparent that our level of consciousness, as we enter the transition to higher dimensions, is an important part of the process. This is an integral part of being co-creators of a new world. This is a wonderful explanation of the stages of transformation that many of us are experiencing today in preparation of what’s to come. If you believe that you are one of the many incarnations who are here to assist in this period of human history, this book is an important read.

Prana Groove CD

By Stevin McNamara

(White Swan Records, 2011; www.whiteswanrecords.com)

For the first time I feel what the generations before me felt when the blues, jazz, and rock and roll burst onto the scene. Stevin McNamara definitely captures the musical form of raga and the drum patterns found in some Sufi dervish dance beats. You can’t help but feel you are moving on down the line to a distinctly new style and sound that embody the needs of an awakening generation. I seldom review CDs but this is seriously good.

The Choice: Using Conscious Thought and Physics of the Mind to Reshape the World

By Mike Bara

ISBN: 978-1-60163-144-2 (New Page Books, 2010)

The Choice is about where the rubber meets the road between the third dimension and the higher dimensions. Mike Bara shows an uncanny depth of understanding of why world governments are preparing for the coming decade of change. He also sheds light on why so many of us feel a change in consciousness and provides evidence from a quantum physics point of view. You can see life as predestined or free will—it’s your choice.

The 21-Day Consciousness Cleanse

By Debbie Ford

ISBN: 978-0-06178-369-2 (HarperOne, 2009)

From my experience I know the necessity of dissolving old, outdated, and dysfunctional beliefs that do little more than instill guilt, fear, and negative thinking into our lives. This is covered extensively in Week One while dealing with the past. In Week Two I was able to see much more clearly into who I am, which is the prerequisite to Week Three and seeing who I want to be and creating a durable future. A definite read for all those seeking to cleanse their minds and spirits as well as their bodies.

I for one hold most channelings suspect so I found this information to be quite a surprise. Biogeneology: Decoding the Psychic Roots of Illness

By Patrick Obissier

ISBN: 1-59477-089-1 (Healing Arts Press, 2006)

It seems that a lot of what we call “nature” can be healed by what we call “nurture.” Patrick Obissier takes us even deeper into the roots of our ancestral origins of disease by looking at the psychic roots of the disease in question. What I found interesting and useful was how this book deals with the basic principles that underlie all life forms, thereby transcending cultures, race, and environment.

Atlantis and the Cycles of Time

By Joscelyn Godwin

ISBN: 978-1-59477-262-7 (Inner Traditions, 2010)

Given the mounting evidence of ancient advanced civilizations, we would do well to remember what brought their downfall. Whether it’s of Lemuria, Mu, or Atlantis, the story comes through loud and clear that entering into a technologically advanced civilization has its dangers. Drawing from the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff, Edgar Cayce, and others, Joscelyn Godwin lays out some compelling evidence that we may be entering a time when we need to pay close attention and reevaluate our ancient history in a new light, considering time is cyclic, not linear.

Transforming through 2012: Leading Perspectives on the New Global Paradigm

By Debra Giusti

(www.TransformingThrough2012.com, 2010)

As we approach 2012 it will be important to be discerning as we wade through the information and opinions that range far and wide. What struck me while reading Transforming through 2012 was the sense of grounding in the interviews with such people as Bruce Lipton, Jean Houston, George Noory, and many others. It is imperative to understand 2012 for many reasons, most of which should be to release fears and see this as a collective transformation of consciousness, and Debra’s book does just that.

The Pot Book

By Julie Holland, MD

ISBN-13: 978-1-59477-368-6 (Inner Traditions, 2010)

Whatever your feelings about marijuana are, it is clear that times are changing and we need the best objective information possible. This book deals with the history of pot and all the safeguards one should know when using it, but it’s loaded, no pun intended, with interviews with many experts in many fields. What is abundantly clear is the need to consider the many people who actually need medical marijuana. I also found it useful to clear up the many myths around marijuana use. Legalization is inevitable, our prison systems are crowded with nonviolent offenders, and many other countries have taken the lead and the results show this to be a positive step.

Forbidden Science: From Ancient Technologies to Free Energy

Edited by J. Douglas Kenyon

ISBN 1-59143-082-8 (Bear & Company, 2008)

We are finally waking up to how new information is suppressed and censored by powerful and entrenched organizations. This is due in part to our tendency to let in only the new information that supports previously held beliefs. In the academic realm it has more of a financial purpose, which is to maintain grants and funding for research projects. So this book is for the rest of us, who live in the reality that we are living through the greatest transformation in recorded history. We are coming to realize that consciousness not only affects matter but creates it, not the other way around, which is the traditional Newtonian view. Read what 19 cutting-edge scientists have to say about this and other “out of the box” discoveries that are being suppressed.

Secret Societies: Their Influence and Power from Antiquity to the Present Day

By Michael Howard

ISBN-10: 1-59477-203-7 (Destiny Books, 2008)

This book took the “theory” out of “conspiracy theory.” As I watch the ongoing parade of changing faces in our government I see very little change in policy. Some things never change and the more I read the more I realize what hasn’t changed in centuries: secret societies and controlling families. If used properly their ancient esoteric wisdom could be beneficial for everyone, but behind veils of secrecy the controlling elite seem to control our very destiny as a human society. We know a lot about what and where events happen but very little about who is behind them and why. This book is a well-documented account of events that date to Egyptian times.

In the Handbook for the Spirit you will hear from visionaries such as the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Wayne Dyer, the Rev. Animal Omens

By Victoria Hunt

ISBN: 978-0-73871-377-9 (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2008)

I remember sitting in the park one day attempting to figure a way to balance my time to work and my time to relax and play. Looking back I’m glad I had the presence of mind to notice that two squirrels were playing close to me; at least it looked as if they were playing. Then almost as if I had summoned one of them over, one came and picked up a small nut that was close to me. It was then that I noticed that they were working hard at collecting food but having such a great time it looked as if they were playing. If I had known about Animal Omens I would have known why this struck me in the way it did. On that day I learned that work and play need to be indistinguishable. This is a great companion book for nature walks.

This is a well-balanced view of the health system surrounding being pregnant in America. It asks questions such as: “Why is it that the cesarean rate is 30 percent in the United States while the rest of the world considers 7 percent too high? Why are we charged so much more for fewer services in our hospitals than in other countries? Why do we give a drug to induce labor when it clearly states on the label: “Do not give to pregnant women”? Why do most childbirths happen Monday through Friday in our hospitals? Why are we discouraged and even penalized for not wanting a cesarean birth or wanting homebirth? If you’re looking for answers, you’re not alone—order this DVD.

Earth under Fire: Humanity’s Survival of the Ice Age
By Paul A. LaViolette, PhD
ISBN: 1-59143-052-6 (Inner Traditions, 2005)

It’s not a matter of “if”; it’s a matter of “when” will we go through the next cataclysmic upheaval on Earth. Putting aside the debate of whether or not it’s manmade or natural, with the mounting information pointing to the fact that Earth is rapidly approaching a major shift, we would do well to learn from our ancestors, who recorded through myths and monuments the destructive forces that nature can and has unleashed in our past. A compilation of well-documented science, from ice cores and astronomical evidence, to indigenous myths of when their ancestors faced extinction, could possibly make this information crucial for our own survival.

Food Energetics: The Spiritual, Emotional, and Nutritional Power of What We Eat
By Steve Gagné
ISBN 1-59477-242-8 (Healing Arts Press, 2008)

This is the first book I’ve read that really addresses the issues around the energetic connection with the food we ingest. This is for anyone looking to find his or her way out of the hundreds of confusing diets that do little more than waste time and money. Steve Gagné goes directly to the heart of the matter by explaining the energy we consume when we eat certain foods—the grounding we get when we eat root vegetables, for instance. But more important, he addresses the dangers of processed foods and offers a practical guide on what to do about it. We all know to some extent that we are what we eat, but we also ingest the feelings and energies from the plants and animals that we eat.

Global Shift: How a New Worldview Is Transforming Humanity
By Edmund J. Bourne, PhD
ISBN 1-57224-597-2 (Noetic Books, 2009)

Never before in recorded history have we gone through such a rapid transformation in society at every level. Global Shift answers the right questions and questions the wrong answers that have most of society bewildered, scared, and confused. As we observe sacred feminine energy moving swiftly through our world, we see the old patriarchal paradigms built on fear and division starting to break down. What I found in this book was balance, brought about through correct information and a clear vision of the future with steps to take action. It includes excellent references for various organizations that are in tune with what’s really going on.

Eastern Wisdom, Modern Life: Collected Talks 1960–1969
By Alan Watts
ISBN 1-57731-180-9 (New World Library, 2006)

Being a child of the 1960s I was right at home with issues that challenge Western civilization’s constructs. In a time when reevaluating our paradigms are imperative, I found his lectures engaging on such things as: Does a divine patriarch really make sense intellectually in today’s society, and What is the nature of reality in light of new knowledge and a change in consciousness that seems to be emerging in many cultures? No matter what our age, hard-hitting honest questions still move us to rethink our beliefs and worldviews.

Founding Fathers, Secret Societies:
Freemasons, Illuminati, Rosicrucians, and the Decoding of the Great Seal
By Robert Hieronimus, PhD
ISBN 1-59477-087-5 (Destiny Books/Inner Traditions, 2006)

In a time when we are searching for a clear vision for America’s future, Founding Fathers, Secret Societies unveils the importance of not only the original vision of those who formed this nation but also their warnings, all of which are captured in the symbols they created. To see the influence the Iroquois Native Americans had on our early documents was as refreshing as it was surprising in light of how that relationship degenerated through the years. Living in times when the average teenager knows hundreds of corporate logos, I think it only makes sense that this is an important read for young and old to find understand of the esoteric meaning of our symbols.

The Gospel of Thomas: The Gnostic Wisdom of Jesus
By Jean-Yves Leloup
ISBN 1-59477-046-8 (Inner Traditions, 2005)

The Thomas manuscripts discovered at Nag-Hammadi in 1945 were quickly buried beneath a mountain of conflicting interpretations from “scholars.” Now, Jean-Yves Leloup gives a page-by-page clear translation of some of the best gnostic scriptures I’ve read, especially in light of the early Sumerian clay tablet information that has been published in the last 40 years. Thomas makes it clear that the message of Jesus was nondualistic and told of the coming of a “new man” in our time based on inner and outer knowledge. Since these manuscripts predate the gospels by centuries, they will be an important read for anyone looking for truth and not simply wanting to validate preexisting beliefs.

Quiet Mind, Warrior Spirit: Conscious Self-Defense for Everyday Life

By Lila Reyna

ISBN-10: 1-93509-808-X

ISBN: 978-1-93509-808-9 (Bascom Hill, Forthcoming)

Living in a world where I am surrounded by extremists, I found Lila Reyna’s book to be a good balance between my inner and outer worlds. Whatever your inner beliefs may be, this book will help you go deeper by preparing you for everyday life, and since our world is in great change, being prepared is imperative. There are two ways to stay out of fear, either blind ignorance or preparedness, and I choose the latter. As they say in the Middle East, “Believe in Allah but tie up your camel first.” Whether your assailant is an angry person on the street or negative energy from within, you will find this book very useful.

Forbidden History: Prehistoric Technologies, Extraterrestrial Intervention, and the Suppressed Origins of Civilization

Edited by J. Douglas Kenyon

ISBN-10: 1-59143-045-3

ISBN-13: 978-1-59143-045-2 (Inner Traditions, 2005)

Let’s be honest; it’s absolutely insane to think that a group of people living in the Iron Age were able to figure out human history and that today’s science and technology have nothing of value to offer. Most scientific discoveries happened in the last century and almost all of our archaeological discoveries, including the pre-Sumerian clay tablets that rewrite human history. The days of secrecy and suppression need to come to an end because challenging deeply entrenched and outdated scientific and religious worldviews are the hallmark of a civilized society evolving toward higher ideals and truth.

I have read a lot of books on how to treat and avoid cancer but none as comprehensive as this. As we transcend from a purely traditional approach to alternative approaches it will be important to balance both. This book covers everything from a sensible diet to precautionary measures to take for everyday stress, environmental changes, and even cell phones.

Healing Trauma

By Peter A. Levine, PhD

ISBN 978-1-59179-658-9 (Sounds True, 2008)

Peter A. Levine, PhD, author of Waking the Tiger, spent 35 years studying the effects of trauma on the body. In Healing Trauma, he has written a slim companion book to the first book, describing his 12-phase trauma-recovery program and providing an audio CD of his somatic experiencing exercises.

This book may be useful for those who have experienced a minor trauma and who would like to try using Levine’s techniques. However, for those with a more complex trauma history (multiple losses or an abuse history), I recommend this book and CD be used in conjunction with therapy, as the techniques are oversimplified in the book.

Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations

One School at a Time

By Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

ISBN 0-670-03482-7 (Viking-Penguin Group, 2006)

For children living in a world of broken hearts and broken promises, it must have been something unimaginable for Greg Mortenson, an American, to show up and keep his promises and mend not only their hearts but their minds. To think that his journey was built from his failure to climb a mountain made me wonder if there is such a thing as failure when one follows his or her path no matter where it leads. Reading Three Cups of Tea made me realize that if we’re waiting for governments to create peace we will be waiting for thousands of years more; we will have peace when we become the peace we seek. Candida Albicans: Could Yeast Be Your Problem?

By Leon Chaitow, D.O., N.D. ISBN 0-89281-795-X (Inner Traditions, 1998)

Candida albicans is a yeast that exists in all of us. Normally it poses no problem, but with everyday stress, consumption of refined carbohydrates, and especially the widespread use of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and birth-control pills, it can take over one’s body and cause a whole variety of problems. This book eloquently explains how this pathogen gets out of control, causing fatigue, depression, chronic pain, digestive disturbances, skin problems, ear infections, and allergies, to name a few. What I appreciate most is the author’s emphasis on non-drug therapies to support reclaiming a healthy internal environment. He uses the latest research and his own clinical experience to show how to detect whether yeast is the problem behind your ills.

In today’s complex world, the message remains as simple as ever: “The way back to ourselves is to understand, through compassion, that we were never separate.” Only through the harmony of our minds and hearts will we ever be able to embrace our differences, which is the key to tolerance. A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose

By Eckhart Tolle, ISBN 978-0-452-28996-3 (Penguin Books Ltd.)

The most important spiritual shift in my life was the realization that what I believed or didn’t believe had nothing to do with my level of spiritual consciousness. In fact, it had everything to do with being stuck in my mind because, as Eckhart Tolle points out in his book, I identified belief with thinking and I thought I could “know” the truth, which is unknowable. This is not only the most important message of our day; it may be our last message if we don’t hear it. The subtitle could have been, “Awakening ‘is’ Your Life’s Purpose.” For more on Eckhart Tolle, visit www.eckharttolle.com

If you want to restore your sense of the sacred by exploring the mathematical connection with the macro and micro world we inhabit, then this book will fulfill and surpass your expectations. This is a very in-depth look at the world of sacred geometry that holds your attention, making it an easy read.

The Biology of Transcendence: A Blueprint of the Human Spirit

By Joseph Chilton Pearce (Park Street Press, 2004, ISBN 1-59477-016-6)

You may have noticed that we seem to be stuck at a point in our evolution in which violence and injustice overshadow all of our lofty ideals and beliefs. But The Biology of Transcendence shows that we are on the edge of a human transcendence. Through a new discipline of neurocardiology, it is being shown that we have another center of consciousness in our hearts that has a dynamic relationship with our brains, creating true intelligence and wisdom. There has never been a time in our history more crucial for a conscious transcendence than now while we are in our technological adolescence. This book gives new hope through new science.

Sit Down and Shut Up: Punk Rock Commentaries on Buddha, God, Truth, Sex, Death, and Dogen’s Treasury of the Right Dharma Eye

By Brad Warner (New World Library, 2007, ISBN 1-57731-559-9)I like what’s going on in the world today; we are shaking up old traditions and as you can imagine, a punk rocker would probably shake up Buddhism a bit. It is a great way to introduce a profound teaching to the disgruntled young minds in our society who see no way to connect with tradition. It’s also a great way for a Buddhist to check his or her humility and loosen up a little by seeing things with a “beginners mind.”

Being in Balance: Nine Principles for Creating Habits to Match Your Desires

By Wayne Dyer (Hay House, 2006, ISBN 1-40191-038-6)

As we look at the universe we can easily see that there is perfect balance, with one exception—human beings. Taming my desires has been a lifelong project. What resonates well with me is Wayne Dyer’s approach to addictions. Chapter Seven says it all, “Fighting any adverse condition only increases its power over you.” This little book is a nice reminder that we are moving into a new level of awareness of surrendering to a larger self. We are creatures of habit; why not use that to our advantage!

The Natural Testosterone Plan: For Sexual Health and Energy

By Stephen Harrod Buhner (Healing Arts Press, 2007, ISBN 1-59477-168-5)

Let’s face it; we no longer live in the same world our parents did. Food additives and preservatives, environmental pollutants, pharmaceuticals—the list seems to go on forever with things that affect our natural balance. It was encouraging to see that there are naturally occurring phytoandrogens (plant medicines that contain male hormones) that counteract the effects of testosterone depletion. This book is superbly laid out in easy-to-understand language to get you back on track, complete with dosages, possible herb/drug interactions, and availability.

Never before have we lived in a world where it has become so important for all of us to be informed. Genetic engineering affects every one of us in dangerous and unknown ways. Altering the genetics of the world we live in and consume even has spiritual implications. Consumers do not want genetically engineered products but thanks to our agencies that are supposed to look out for us these products are unlabeled in most cases. You can find most everything you need to know about genetically altered foods in this book. It’s time for a moratorium on their production, so get involved by getting informed.

Looking back to 1969, when the U.S. surgeon general stated that “the war on infectious diseases had been won” in large part because of antibiotics, makes me realize the necessity of being responsible for my health. In a time when we are bombarded by information and misinformation, it’s comforting to have Dr. Jones’s guide on hand and to know she holds a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology. By Thom Hartmann (Park Street Press, a division of Inner Traditions, 2006, ISBN 1-59477-144-8)

When I read Walking Your Blues Away, I realized the importance of my walks in the park. Thom Hartmann explains how we release the trauma that we hold in our bodies through thought, and how those traumatic thoughts are transferred to long-term memory, where they lose their emotional charge. This is accomplished through simply thinking of the traumatic thoughts while walking, which is a bilateral therapy. A very easy read and straight to the point.

Addiction Free—Naturally shows you a supportive way to ease away from your addictions naturally while still working through whatever program you’re on. By following simple instructions you can help nourish brain chemistry (which is responsible for many of our emotions), stabilize blood sugar, and correct long-neglected nutritional deficiencies, all of which are important predictors of sustaining recovery.

Light, Medicine of the Future: How We Can Use It to Heal Ourselves Now

By Jacob Liberman (ISBN 0-93968-080-7, Inner Traditions-Bear and Company, 1990)

Dr. Liberman, an optometrist, challenges the modern notion that the sun is dangerous to our well-being; he presents questions such as: •Is UV light beneficial or harmful? •Are we creating our own blindness? •Has science made a mistake? •How harmful to humans are technological advancements such as fluorescent lighting? This book shows how the energy of sunlight deeply affects the healing process and how the visual apparatus is not the only sensory organ that responds to light. It echoes Edgar Cayce’s predictions that light would be used in the medicine of the future. Dr. Liberman integrates scientific research, clinical experience, and his own insights in a very pleasant and easy-to-follow way. This is a book for every healer, whether for yourself or for others.

Radical Knowing-Understanding Consciousness through Relationship

By Christian de Quincey ISBN 1-59477-079-4, Inner Traditions

Who am I? That seems to be where we start the journey towards awakening. Reading this book brought me to a deeper understanding about what it is that binds us together-our collective shared consciousness. If this is true it could also be what holds the fabric of our reality together. By exploring the synchronicities between mind and matter we are faced with the possibility that we are not alone in our consciousness but we share the dream called life with all consciousness like the indigenous peoples of this planet have been telling us for years. Understanding our consciousness through our relationships could very well be the key to unlocking our potential for higher consciousness and spiritual evolution. Forbidden History Edited

by J. Douglas Kenyon (Inner Traditions, 2005)

I’m sure you all remember the time you read that article that changed your world view, gave you a whole new understanding and new possibilities, or simply deepened what you already knew. Through the years, Atlantis Rising magazine has published many of these articles; recently it searched its archives for the best and has published them in Forbidden History. Read what researchers have to say about prehistoric technologies, evolution versus creation, earth changes, and even the case for extraterrestrial intervention. Look through the eyes of mystics, scientists, and researchers at the top of their fields and see what they have to say about some of the latest finds and discoveries in these areas. Forbidden History also brings out why it’s so difficult to accept new ideas and how those with vested interests are firmly entrenched and filter out most everything that might threaten the accepted world view. This book slipped through the cracks.

Mending the Past and Healing the Future with Soul Retrieval

By Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. (Hay House, 2005)

Alberto Villoldo provides an awesome vision portraying the ancient shamanic worldview with that shown to be evident in quantum physics. Dr. Villoldo writes well, tells us an interesting story, and at the same time lets us see into the magical workings of the universe. But this is more than just a description—it is a path to well being and self-healing, one you can take with the new universal soul realization offered by the author.”—Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D.As our mythologies fail us in the world we find ourselves in, it’s only natural to seek answers from the indigenous peoples who have beliefs that sustain them and their world. For the shaman, finding answers to our problems today has more to do with reaching into the future and finding our highest potential based on what we are capable of and our highest good, not what we have been in the past. Dr. Villoldo, a psychologist and medical anthropologist, brings this knowledge to us in a comprehensible way. He has shared in easy-to-understand language his knowledge of how you can be your own shaman and accomplish your own soul retrieval in a few sessions of journeying. A good read for anyone on a path of self-empowerment.

Living Deliberately By Harry Palmer

(ISBN 0-96268-743-X)

Since the dawn of history there have always been those in power who have instilled fear into the people, ensuring that the belief systems of the day would prevail through relieving those same fears . . . for a price, of course. Even the word “belief” means to “limit life.” Harry Palmer illustrates perfectly how our experience of life is shaped by our consciousness, our own beliefs. I’ve noticed that a growing number of people are experiencing conscious states that no longer fit their old worldviews; if you’re one of those people you are part of the fastest-growing demographic on the planet. Whether you are on a path of awakening or just tired of playing the “victim,” I strongly suggest you read this book, which, following the principles of Avatar, will lead you to self-empowerment and living a life deliberately.

The Slow Down Diet: Eating for Pleasure, Energy, and Weight Loss

By Marc David

ISBN: 1-59477-060-3

In easy-to-understand language, Marc David gives you the tools on “how” to eat, not “what.” In what’s referred to as an “Eight-Week Breakthrough Program,” he guides you through eight stages of awareness in eating called universal metabolizers, which are:

Relaxation—The slower you eat, the faster you metabolize.

Quality—No matter what you eat, choose the highest-quality version of that food.

Awareness—The less aware we are of the meal when we eat, the more the brain send signals for more food.

Rhythm—Digestive and calorie-burning metabolism is strongest when the sun is highest (lunchtime) and weakest in the late evening.

Pleasure—A pleasurable experience of a meal enhances nutrient absorption.

Thought—Positive or negative thoughts directly affect digestion through nerve pathways, hormones, neuropeptides, and other biosubstances.

Story—By rewriting our stories we can literally transform health, improve digestion, and enhance calorie-burning capacity.

Sacred—Ritual offers access to the metachemistry of the sacred.

This, along with what he calls “Vitamin O” for oxygen and “Vitamin P” for pleasure, will transform your relationship with food, which is also your relationship with life.

Autobiography of a Yogi By Paramahansa Yogananda

Marking the 60th anniversery of the Autobiography of a Yogi, we thought it only fitting to review what has come to be known as a literary masterpiece. Walking in another’s footsteps is always interesting, but when those footsteps are taking you into the world of the miraculous it can become an experience of inner transformation. Yogananda relates the early experiences in his childhood search for an enlightened teacher and his 10 years with a yoga master. In today’s world, the message of the underlying unity behind all religions is stronger than ever and his explanation of the subtle laws behind ordinary and extraordinary events, which we usually call miracles, echoes the voices of the quantum physicists of today.

The 100-Year Lie: How Food and Medicine Are Destroying Your Health

By Randall Fitzgerald

(ISBN 0-525-94951-8)

I believe we would all live better lives if we had better information, and this book is packed with some of the best information I’ve read in a while. For instance, did you know that 60 percent of California’s rivers and streams tested with high levels of Prozac, Ritalin, and antibiotics? The everyday products that we have around us flood the human body with more than 700 synthetic chemicals, and most of us are becoming aware of the chemistry in our food processing. It’s easy to correlate this with the growing susceptibility to autism, attention deficit disorder, and a variety of neurological disorders. I also found it surprising how many of the myths that we have accepted through time are simply not true, such as: fluoridated water is healthy for us, plastics are absolutely safe, drugs have extended our lifespans, and the list goes on. This book is also a breath of fresh air because it offers solutions simply by knowing the facts and showing ways to change our direction through “better living without chemistry.

The New Children and Near-Death Experiences

By P.M.H. Atwater

(ISBN 1-59143-020-8)

Not only is this a glimpse into the inner world of a child who’s had a near-death experience (NDE), it’s part of an ever-growing mountain of evidence that we, as a human race, are fast approaching a quantum leap in our evolution. P.M.H. Atwater started her research into NDEs in 1978, one year after having three NDEs herself. She presents compelling data that suggest children who return from a near-death experience are not the same children they were before. As you read through case studies, you find yourself left with new insights about what death is and, for that matter, what life is. Since these are children you get the sense that their accounts of their experiences were uncontaminated by beliefs, concepts, and ideologies that are learned through life experiences as adults.

Women’s Culture in a New Era: A Feminist Revolution?

Scarecrow Press, 2005.

Gayle Kimball, Editor

“What do young women think about women’s issues today? Have feminist goals become mainstream or marginalized?” These are among the questions that impelled Dr. Gayle Kimball, pioneering women’s studies coordinator at CSUC, to update her 1981 anthology Women’s Culture: The Women’s Renaissance of the 1970s. Kimballasked feminist scholars to assess changes in their fields since the initial edition. This thought-provoking anthology—so wonderfully free of padding and jargon—manages to pack into just more than 200 pages an overview of 30 years of feminist history and viewpoints of 17 artists and scholars on current feminist issues. The many voices communicate a welcome diversity of thought. In addition to analyzing women’s cultural accomplishments in the visual arts, music, theater, film, and television, the anthology includes chapters on political action, religion, and women’s health issues. Copious bibliographic references encourage further reading. One of the book’s strengths lies in giving insights into how culture works within the capitalist system. As an example, Boden Sandstrom, who writes about women’s music, examines not only contributions by composers and performers, but also by patrons, audiences, the media, and a variety of institutions. Also enlightening are five interviews by Kimball with key feminist figures, including visual artist Judy Chicago. That artist’s The Dinner Party (1979) honored cultural and political contributions of such women as poet Emily Dickinson and Sojourner Truth, abolitionist and women’s suffrage campaigner. In creating the sculpture, Chicago enlisted the collaboration of women who practiced china painting and embroidery, arts associated with women and seldom accepted as “fine art.” Thanks to the patronage of Elizabeth Sackler, who bought and then donated the work to the Brooklyn Museum, The Dinner Party will soon have a permanent home. Kimball summarizes major changes in feminism since her l98l publication as including more non-European viewpoints and more voices of women of color. She credits Internet expansion with feminism’s “increased globalism” and has noticed “less anger toward men, less dualism, and a less simplistic view of women’s essential nature.” This reader found the anthology to be highly informative; its pages glow with positive energy.

By Paul Hourihan, edited by Anna Hourihan

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." These words by Henry David Thoreau could not come at a better time than now, when we all hear the sound of a different drummer who sometimes seems so far away. The works of Henry David Thoreau and Walt Whitman are interpreted from a mystical standpoint, making it possible to understand the deeper meanings of their writings. A must-read.

The Ten Commitments

By David Simon, M.D.

ISBN 0-75730-406-0, HCI

Whenever I see someone take a fresh look at old worldviews I feel renewed somehow. As we become more conscious, we realize more and more that we create what we focus on. Sometimes it’s as simple as taking all of our “shall nots” and turning them around—“Thou shall not steal” becomes “I commit to abundance” and “Thou shall not kill” becomes “I commit to forgiveness.” It’s another good example of East’s meeting West and the synthesis is nothing less than a shining example of our own spiritual awakening in progress. Healing into Possibility: The Transformational Lessons of a Stroke

By Alison Bonds Shapiro

ISBN: 978-1-93207-324-9 (HJ Kramer/New World Library, 2009)

Being a caretaker of my father, who had a stroke, I know all too well the necessity of finding meaning, working through frustration, and even finding humor around a physical trauma. Alison Bonds Shapiro speaks with a clear voice of what to do and how to do it when dealing with your stroke or that of a loved one. It’s important for anyone in this situation to know that most of what we’ve been told about our brains is simply not true. Our brains have a healing capacity called neuroplasticity that until recently was not recognized. But much of our healing depends on our emotional views of the situation and this is where, as a caretaker, I found the book most useful.

The Law of Attention: Nada Yoga and the Way of Inner Vigilance

By Edward Salim Michael

ISBN: 978-1-59477-304-4 (Inner Traditions, 2010)

Anyone who gives it a little thought quickly concludes that most of our spiritual and religious views are culturally determined. So to find a writer born in 1921 who was not indoctrinated into a culturally based belief system was refreshing. At this point in my life I found this book to be a welcome perspective on my own higher nature and a guide to a personal experience of the after-death experience through meditation … the very thing that many of us run from and avoid at all costs. Many of our deepest fears emanate from not coming to grips with our mortality so anyone seeking the deeper meaning of life should read this book.

Anyone caught in the grips of “shyness” would truly benefit from reading this book and doing the meditations. As a society we are evolving into a world that brings us face to face with other people and cultures, so healing ourselves breaks down the divisions that we often feel in others but that are actually within ourselves. I wish I could have read this book many years ago while dealing with feelings of isolation that were a direct result of my shyness.

The Emotion Code

By Bradley Nelson, DC

ISBN: 978-0-97955-370-7 (Wellness Unmasked Publishing, 2007)

Gifted craniosacral founder John Upledger, DO, treats “energy cysts.” Chiropractor Brad Nelson also found that unresolved emotions create trapped energy balls in specific areas of the body, up to the size of a melon. He uses muscle testing to identify which emotion is stuck, where, and when it began (www.EmotionCode.com/flowcharts.htm). He clears it by running a magnet down the governing meridian—under the nose and down the spine. My meditation group tried it and was pleased with the results. Muscle testing is tricky, however, as both the tester and testee need to be in balance. If not, inaccurate or inconclusive testing results. The book is simply written for a general audience, relies on anecdotes of his cases rather than scientific evidence, but is intriguing enough to give the magnet a try. You can buy them inexpensively at an electronics store.

To observe playfulness while in deep devotion is always amazing, but to hear it manifest itself in music is another thing altogether. Then when you add the accompaniment of Manose to what is already divine you have a situation that happens only on rare occasions and it’s all captured in its entirety on this CD and DVD. Some moments would be difficult to duplicate so it’s our good fortune to have this available for all time. Being Brazilian, I especially enjoyed "Calma e Tranquilidade" and "Ilumina," which are Brazilian chanting.

How Alternation Can Change Your Life: Finding the Rhythms of Health and Happiness

By Andrew Oser

ISBN-13: 978-0-98411-403-0 (River Sanctuary, 2010)

Everything changes, and there is nothing in the universe that is in a static state, yet we feverishly attempt to stay in perpetual bliss and happiness and are so let down when this doesn’t happen. This is why I found Andrew Oser’s book to be a great reminder of the rhythms of life and specifically my life. Life is full of ups and downs and to fall into balance with this is the first step to living in harmony with life. Most of us confuse “giving up” with surrendering to something greater and this book helps keep us in touch with the wonder of surrender.

There Were Giants Upon the Earth: Gods, Demigods, and Human Ancestry: The Evidence of Alien DNA by Zecharia Sitchin

Are We Alone?

By Rahasya Poe

History has shown that we can believe almost anything when its only supporting evidence is the fact that we believe it to be true. But let’s try a different approach to the subject of extraterrestrials; let’s look at the facts. As many of you know, my book To Believe or Not to Believe: The Social & Neurological Consequences of Belief Systems was recently published. Surprisingly, it has been about Part III of the book, Rewriting Our Human History, that people most often contact me. While doing my due diligence I had the opportunity to talk with archaeologists, historians, and Biblical scholars about our human beginnings. I also read many books on the subject, and one that really pinned this issue down was There Were Giants Upon the Earth: Gods, Demigods, and Human Ancestry: The Evidence of Alien DNA by Zecharia Sitchin. Zecharia is probably best known for his first book, The 12th Planet.

During the past century, many archaeological discoveries have been made that point us in a direction that most people may find difficult to wrap their heads around. Again, I’m saying let’s just look at some of the facts and you can form your own ideas.

As much as evolutionists would like to believe, there are definite deficiencies in the theory of evolution, the main one being what is referred to as the “missing link,” which marks our sudden jump from Homo erectus to Homo sapiens.

More than 30,000 clay tablets have been found with stories such as The Epic of Creation, which predates the story of Genesis by many centuries, and The Epic of Gilgamesh, which predates the story of Noah by many centuries. It would strain credulity to not see that the early Biblical stories originated from these Sumerian clay tablets that speak clearly of an earlier civilization called the Annunaki.

For thousands of years there have been, and still are, thousands of sightings of unidentified flying objects in our skies; there are even cave drawings of UFOs going back 10,000 years or more.

Every ancient text that I have read—The Book of Enoch, the Bible, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and many others—speak clearly of anomalous events and beings flying in our ancient skies and bringing advanced knowledge to humans.

Almost all indigenous peoples with an oral tradition that dates from antiquity tell similar stories of visitations by beings from the skies.

We are discovering other planets in our own galaxy all the time and the official estimates are in the hundreds of billions of possible planets in our universe, many of which could feasibly support life.

We should also keep in mind that Zecharia Sitchin is a Hebrew scholar and linguist with many academic credentials and a lifetime of research and experience who has collaborated with other academics from many fields. Does everyone agree with his theories? Of course not, but what most scholars do agree on is that the whole of our human history needs to be looked at again in light of recent information of the 20th and 21st centuries. In my book I have a section on the meeting between Zecharia and Monsignor Corrado Balducci, who was (he died last year) a senior Vatican official and close friends with the last pope. One thing they agreed on was that based on the best evidence, we were genetically altered from sentient beings already existent on the planet by beings visiting here in our ancient past. This is a huge advance in the vision of organized religion on how we got here and shows that possible disclosure is close.

I highly encourage anyone who is searching for the truth of who we are, no matter where that truth leads, to read There Were Giants Upon the Earth:Gods, Demigods, and Human Ancestry: The Evidence of Alien DNA. And if you feel so inclined, my book is referenced and will lead you down a path of discovery that will definitely give you something to “think” about, which is the whole point…to start thinking again.

Both of the above-mentioned books are available through Amazon.com and bookstores everywhere, so get informed and read our ancient literature in a new light. After all, who were the sons of Gods who saw the daughters of men to be fair and took them to be wives (Genesis 6:1-4)? You can also visit my website www.RahasyaPoe.com for a list of books and DVDs and magazine articles that are meant to inform you on this subject.

History’s Mysteries: People, Places, and Oddities Lost in the Sands of Time

By Brian Haughton

ISBN-13: 978-1-60163-107-7 (New Page Books, 2010)

Will Durant, one of our greatest historians, once wrote that at best, history is nothing more than guesswork and bias. This is why it’s so important to take advantage of recent archaeological finds and technology to clear up some of the mystery. For this reason Brian Haughton set aside any preconceived notions of history and sought out recent information that traditional archaeologists seem to ignore. For far too long our rigid and deeply entrenched organizations have held the reins that have kept us in the dark. This book sheds new light on humanity's oldest questions.

The Couples Thrival Guide

By Shannon Sheridan

ISBN-13: 978-0-98213-790-1 (www.thrivaliving.com)

This is the book I should have read during my first “few” relationships. This workbook touches on all the hot spots in a relationship—struggling for power, being responsible for our feelings, showing and receiving appreciation, understanding that it’s all right to feel good, and many other dynamics in a relationship—in a way that helps us understand why we behave the way we behave with our partners. As I read The Couples Thrival Guide I found that it put light on the many beliefs I had about relationships, sex, and communication that were given to me by authority figures throughout my life and that simply aren’t true. An excellent reminder that the most important relationship I have is the relationship I have with myself.

By Celeste Cooper, RN, and Jeffrey Miller, PhD

ISBN-13: 978-1-59477-323-5 (Inner Traditions, 2010)

For many diseases in our world, we are finally learning that treatments using only allopathic or only homeopathic remedies are seldom the best approach in and of themselves. Much of the confusion has come from the polarized arguments of both sides attempting to defend their points of view, but like most truths the answers are often found in the middle ground, hence “integrative medicine.” I found this book, at 448 pages, to be very comprehensive and I highly recommend it for anyone searching for a balanced approach for the treatment of these diseases.
