There are over 60,000 books published every yearso let us save you some timeAdult ADHD: How to Succeed as a Hunter in a Farmer's Worldby Thom HartmannISBN-13: 978-1620555750 (Park Street Press; 3 edition-2016)I love a book that turns everything I thought I knew upside down. What if we truly are still ‘hunters’ learning to adapt in a ‘farmers’ world? There’s nothing wrong with being the ‘farmer’ because this is what creates and sustains stability. But without innovation and creativity, stability can quickly become stagnation. As hunters we were constantly scanning our environment for food and danger. In today’s world the hunters scan their environment for danger and opportunity Read more [...]

War on Drigs The 12 Spiritual Laws of Recovery and Meditations for The 12-Step Program  By Rahasya Poe   Every once in a while I feel compelled to reach out and connect with what I see as the fastest-growing segment of our population. Now I have to admit, it would be very easy at this point to get into how other countries, such as Portugal for instance, have decriminalized drug use and have substantially fewer violent crimes associated with drugs and far less usage … but then again they don’t have a billion-dollar prison industry to support like we do and pharmaceutical companies putting millions into the pockets of their politicians, but this is a subject for another time. This is a spiritual Read more [...]

A Druid’s Herbal of Sacred Tree MedicineBy Ellen Evert HopmanISBN-13: 978-1-59477-230-6 (Destiny Books, 2008)I read this book because it had herbal information in it but was quickly drawn into the ancient history of the Druids, which includes astronomical information as well as the homeopathic uses of herbs. This is a great book for anyone who simply takes a walk in nature and wonders what many have wondered through the ages … what are the medicinal properties of all the nature that surrounds us? It’s a great reference book for all those who think they know everything about herbs and want another perspective from an ancient culture.Rahasya Poe, Lotus Guide~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bouncing Read more [...]

Media Reviews for Oct-Nov-Dec 2015The Slow Down Diet: Eating for Pleasure, Energy, and Weight LossBy Marc DavidISBN-13: 978-1-62055-508-8 (Healing Arts Press, 2015)We’ve all been there: Eat less, exercise more, and I will lose weight. It doesn’t take long to figure out that without proper nourishment you will lose more than weight. It was Chapter/Week 5 when I started understanding what Marc David was actually getting at when he explains how the metabolic process is directly affected by our emotions, specifically pleasure. That, along with the awareness of simply breathing while I eat, has made a noticeable improvement in my health. In today’s world with the degradation of our food supply, Read more [...]

Your Yin Yang Body Type: The Korean Tradition of Sasang Medicine

Comments Off on Your Yin Yang Body Type: The Korean Tradition of Sasang Medicine

By Gary Wagman, PhD, L.Ac.

ISBN-13: 978-1-62055-370-1 (Healing Arts Press, 2014)

When it comes to information for your health, one size does not fit all. The first step, as this book clearly points out, is to find your body type. I love the idea of addressing the mind, body, and spirit to attain equilibrium and balance through my own efforts. The book includes tests that you can do yourself that allow you to take control over your health, and through that process I found a deeper understanding of maintaining a healthy body.

Yoga for Cancer: A Guide to Managing Side Effects, Boosting Immunity, and Improving Recovery for Cancer Survivors

Comments Off on Yoga for Cancer: A Guide to Managing Side Effects, Boosting Immunity, and Improving Recovery for Cancer Survivors

By Tari Prinster

ISBN-13: 978-1-62055-272-8 (Healing Arts Press, 2014)

Surviving cancer has a lot to do with taking back control of your life and this book would be instrumental in that process. I personally know the healing aspects of yoga and detoxing so your body can do what it does best … heal. This book would be a plus for anyone doing, teaching, or contemplating yoga as a tool for sustaining health. However, it’s also about a “life change” for the long road ahead … but a long road ahead sounds pretty good for most cancer survivors.

The Fear Cure: Cultivating Courage as Medicine for the Body, Mind, and Soul

Comments Off on The Fear Cure: Cultivating Courage as Medicine for the Body, Mind, and Soul
By Lissa RankinISBN-13: 978-1-40194-426-1 (Hay House, 2015)I venture to say that most people tend to be “control freaks” and are in a state of denial about the very reality they find themselves in. Behind control and denial is, of course, fear, fear of loss, the unknown, change, death, the fear of being wrong. The chemistry alone that manifests out of fear can bring about disease and even death so I suppose it’s true that the only thing to fear is fear itself. Acquiring courage has very little to do with having no fear; it has to do with knowing the difference between false fears and fears that can kill you. Lissa gives you step-by-step ways to cultivate the courage that’s necessary in Read more [...]

Natural Treatments for Lyme Coinfections: Anaplasma, Babesia, and Ehrlichia

Comments Off on Natural Treatments for Lyme Coinfections: Anaplasma, Babesia, and Ehrlichia

By Stephen Harrod Buhner

ISBN-13: 978-1-62055-258-2 (Healing Arts Press, 2015)

Of all the diseases out there, I think Lyme disease is misdiagnosed more than most. This book gets right to the heart of properly diagnosing the coinfections related to Lyme disease. When I first started reading Professor Buhner’s book I disagreed with a few points he was making; thank goodness I kept reading, though, because I found a deeper understanding that cleared away some misconceptions I had. If I had Lyme disease, I would give this book to the doctor who was treating me and hope he would read it.
