Science That Validates Ancient Knowledge

By Rahasya Poe

You have to at least ask yourself, “Why is it that so many people believe so much with no evidence and at the same time disbelieve so many things that have a mountain of evidence?” This question is why we brought back our “Science FACTion” column. Admittedly, this column isn’t for everyone, that’s a fact, and I can live with that. This column is for those brave souls who want to push the boundaries of what’s possible and dream of things that have never been. Many people in our world are doing this very thing and making it available to the world.Planet-X

Take “free energy,” for instance. Even though scientists worldwide are lining up and testifying that their research is validating it, many people say it’s a bunch of bunk. But there are working generators on almost every continent that you can actually see working. Then there are the conspiracy stories about Nibiru or Planet X, which is a planet that, according to ancient Sumerian texts, has an orbit around our sun of 3,600 years. But how many people actually understand that astronomers and scientists are now saying that according to their calculations, at least two other planets are orbiting our sun (information from the Royal Astronomical Society)?

The point I’m making here is the fact that the world most people live in is a fantasy, an illusion created by an educational system that sets limits on our understanding and our creativity. What’s ironic is that it’s those very people who say these facts and many others are nonsense.

So let’s open our minds and embrace the world that is opening before us, a world filled with wonder and opportunities. For the first time in human history we now have the technology to destroy the world many times over, but we also have the technology to reinvent ourselves and our world in ways that are unimaginable to many.

Research is going on in every field of endeavor, but the results seldom hit the news if they contradict preexisting ideas, beliefs, and theories. That’s why we are here—to help ignite new ideas based on hard science. Take fasting, for instance. How many people realize that recent research clearly shows that if you fast for even one day, the moment you start eating again your system activates stem cells throughout your bloodstream? You can learn much more about fasting from Michael Turk, who has an article in this issue about this very thing. My wife and I will be doing intermittent fasting for the next year so we’ll let you know how it goes. Then we found out from Tracie Feldhaus of Whole Food Medicine here in Paradise that once your system is reset through a fast, it’s very important when you start eating to eat the correct fats and stay away from sugars.

I know it sounds like science fiction to say that fasting can actually create superior fuel for your brain but science has proven this to be true. Unlike other mammals, we have the ability to convert fat into vital fuel during times of starvation; one in particular is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is one of the ketones that is superior fuel for our brains. If you fast for three days, your liver really kicks in and starts using body fat to create these superfuels that are excellent for the brain and cognitive powers. This would explain why hunter-gatherers did so well even when they went without eating for a few days; their cognitive power was increased exponentially. The Neanderthals didn’t have this ability, by the way, which might be a better explanation of why they died out when food became scarce.

Fasting has always been an integral part of most world religions—the Jewish with Yom Kippur, the Muslims with Ramadan, the yogis and even the shamans during vision quests. Certain devout Christians have one-day, three-day, seven-day, and even 40-day fasts. Could it be that this opens up conscious levels within us that are normally unattainable?

This subject is way too complex for a layperson such as I am to tackle, which is why I depend on professionals in this field to advise me, including Michael Turk, Tracie Feldhaus, and many others in this issue of Lotus Guide. You have everything in your hands right now to become healthier and happier through proper diet, exercise, and meditation practices. This is just one of the many examples of science’s reawakening some of our most ancient traditions and taking us to a deeper understanding of who we are and what we are capable of becoming, no matter how unbelievable it is.
