Pearls: 52 Contemplative Insights: Practical Life Advice—Timeless Spiritual Wisdom—Reflections Journal

By Suzie Daggett

ISBN-13: 978-1-50023-101-9 (CreateSpace, 2014)

I quickly realized that this book was not a book that you sit down and “read.” You are a participant in a 52-week process of daily contemplation and meditation on what I see as … well, pearls of wisdom. Knowing Suzie Daggett, I am not at all surprised that she wrote such a wonderful book, but I am surprised at the many insights in myself that it has triggered so far and I still have 47 weeks to go. This is a great little book with big pearls to contemplate.

The Immortal Mind: Science and the Continuity of Consciousness Beyond the Brain

By Ervin Laszlo and Anthony Peake

ISBN: 978-1-62055-303-9 (Inner Traditions, 2014)

I admit it: My religion is “life experiences” and gradual scientific enquiry backed by repeatable results. But science leaves me cold and dry when it comes to near-death experiences and the continuation of consciousness, and obviously I have no life experiences with death … yet. What if consciousness were continually evolving in and through and beyond us and we could tap into that continuity? The Immortal Mind delves into some age-old questions using life experiences and the latest physics to give us a glimpse of eternity.

The Science and Practice of Humility: The Path to Ultimate Freedom

By Jason Gregory and Daniel Reid

ISBN: 978-1-62055-363-3 (Inner Traditions, 2014)

What is the one thing in this world you can have but if you claim it, you lose it? Humility. Whenever science and religion come together in agreement it’s always encouraging. From Lao-tzu and Buddha to Jesus, all the wisdom teachings through the ages have practiced and taught humility and truth as being the key to opening the inner doors of enlightenment. This book is not just another “feel-good” book; there’s a lot of hard science showing that humility is instrumental in evolving our consciousness. The days of competition are quickly giving way to cooperation in our ever-changing world.

By Victoria Hunt

ISBN: 978-1-88694-039-0 (Ozark Mountain Publishing, 2013)

As we experience our disconnection with nature and the planet itself, we would be well advised to reestablish our connection with alternative and spiritual realities, which include the entities that abide there. For more than 40,000 years that we know of, our ancestors’ shamans have communicated with beings that gave them information to guide their societies. We must open our minds to the expanded potential of the human heart and soul if we expect to continue this journey on this fragile planet we call our home. Victoria offers an interesting perception into the subtle world that hides from most of us.

 Dissolve: And Other Poems

By Shannon Rooney

ISBN-13: 978-1-50033-443-7 (CreateSpace, 2014)

Whenever I read a book of poetry, which, to be honest, is seldom, I usually browse through and read a poem here and there. But here’s the thing: I picked up this little book and found myself on a journey through the heart and mind of a woman who was sharing her experiences in a beautiful world surrounded by natural wonder. I’ve never felt so “invited” into another person’s quiet thoughts. So the next time you feel a little stuck in your office, pick up this little book of poems and take a walk with Shannon.

Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think

By Peter H. Diamandis & Steven Kotler

ISBN 978-1-4516-1421-3 (Free Press-2012)

I am a reluctant skeptic when it comes to human beings and the state of affairs we find ourselves in on this planet. It seems that we need to have our backs against the wall before we buckle down and get innovative and this book shows that there may not only be a light at the end of the tunnel, it may be a bright shining illumination of paradigm changing ideas. One thing is for sure, we can no longer pretend we can continue down the same old path and it was nice to see that some of the brightest minds on the planet are now realizing this and taking action.

Dying to Be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing

By Anita Moorjani

ISBN-13: 978-1-40193-751-5 (Hay House, 2012)

I have read hundreds of profound spiritual books, but this one is unique! Anita’s near-death experience (NDE), or realization of her own infinite self as the very light and love of pure consciousness, is not framed around any spiritual path or tradition. She somehow remained fully aware during a NDE and most important, she brought back with her a clear and vivid insight based on the memories of that experience. And now, she says, her experience of life nowadays is permeated by the sense of oneness, love, and contentment that are the natural fragrances of the infinite self of all beings. This book is greatly inspirational for anyone regardless of background or stage of development!

Om Shanti and love to all,

Soul Recovery: 12 Keys to Healing Addiction … and 12 Steps for the Rest of Us:

A Path to Wholeness, Serenity, and Success

By Ester Nicholson

ISBN: 978-1-40194-311-0 (Agape Media International, 2013)

Most addiction stories are just that, stories, but every once in a while you run across a story that embodies a method of recovery. It’s one thing to stop an addiction by suppressing the urge and “just say No,” but it’s entirely different when you can embrace the addiction as a gift of transformation. The very reason I wrote my book was to help bring the 12-step program into the modern age and break away from the dogmatic structure that loses so many young people today. Nothing speaks louder than success that’s based on experience.

Travels with Puff: A Gentle Game of Life and Death

By Richard Bach

ISBN: 978-1-93777-703-6 (Nice Tiger, 2013)

While reading Richard Bach’s book I found it necessary to let my left brain handle the throttle of the plane while my right brain was handling the compass. We can all see that life is becoming more challenging every day and Richard’s book is a timely gift to anyone looking for a deeper connection with self to navigate the winds of change. Now I know why men refer to their ships and planes as “she” and identify with them as a living entity … once again Richard, beautifully done.

The Pleiadian Workbook: Awakening Your Divine Ka

By Amorah Quan Yin

ISBN: 978-1-87918-131-1 (Bear & Company, 1996

I have to be honest here—I normally don’t respond to channeled information but through the years I have realized that the information itself is what counts. So most channeling has entered my awareness as left-brain information, but this is the first book I’ve read that seems to hit me on an intuitive level. It has forever changed the way I feel about channeled information, and Pleiadian information in particular. One thing is for sure, and that is if we want to wake up and change the world we will need new information to clear away old patterns and limiting beliefs and this book did the trick for me … on many levels.

Net of Being

By Alex Grey

ISBN: 978-1-59477-384-6 (Inner Traditions, 2012)

It’s nearly impossible to put into words what I feel after looking through this amazing book by Alex Grey of his transcendent art. We may occasionally find a poet or a shaman who can share some of his or her transcendent experiences, but it’s rare to find someone who can actually show us the images from those transcendent experiences. As we journey through this dimension of life, some of us look and wonder what is over the horizon. For some reason Alex Grey has been able to look farther over the horizon than most of us and has brought back images to prove it.

Not only producing a wonderful storybook of the life of a true seeker, Gurudev also covers the many early disappointments of looking for a master or a teacher. Specifically for the Western mind that may find Eastern thought a bit perplexing, here at last is a book written by one of us about a journey that we’re all on; it answers the many questions that we all ask and that can be answered only by someone who’s not only been there, but is there.
